Partial excerpt of lecture content

1. 1. Awareness of crisis in Japan and the significance of holding the Next X Asia conference

Speaker: Yuji Akabane (Breakthrough Partners Co., Ltd.)

“About the challenges facing large Japanese companies” In

1989, when the Japanese economic bubble was at its peak, 14 of the top 20 companies in the world’s market capitalization ranking were Japanese companies. However, in the same ranking in 2016, it is not ranked among the top 20 companies, overtaking the United States and China. Most recently, Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. is ranked 42nd at the highest level.

Behind this, as the world shifted to the IT industry, Japanese companies could not keep up with this change and could not shift their focus to anything other than “manufacturing,” and the decisions necessary to steer management. He pointed out that the cause was lack of response and delay in responding to changes in the industrial structure because there was no excellent leader who could do it.

Mr. Akabane went on to say:
“As a third step following the success of Silicon Valley and China, we aim to build an ecosystem that originates in Asia and affects the world, leading domestic and foreign companies, world-class universities, government agencies, entrepreneurs, We would like to provide a place to deepen understanding and promote discussions on next-generation technologies and their applications, developments, and developments in collaboration with investors. “

2. AI reliability realized by blockchain

Speaker: Mr. Kazuaki Ishiguro (Chief Blockchain Architect, Cougars Co., Ltd.)

In the speech by Mr. Ishiguro, the content related to the “human interface (VHA)” being developed by Cougars Co., Ltd. was developed in relation to the difference from the current AI and the solution of the problems that the existing AI has.

AIs such as Google home provided by Google, Alexa of Amazon, and Clova of Line can only have one-way conversations and cannot be said to be sufficient communication. For humans to comfortably communicate with the myriad of AI, new interfaces will be needed to replace today’s smartphones and smart speakers.

The ultimate interface is the humanoid AI assistant “Virtual Human Agent (VHA)”, which enables this VHA by fusing cutting-edge technologies such as AI, blockchain, and AR developed by Cougars Co., Ltd. The technology “Connectome”.

3. Japanese manufacturing industry innovated by AI and IoT

Speaker: Masami Arai (CTO, Director, Robitto Co., Ltd.)

In his speech, Mr. Arai pointed out that “the problem with the Japanese manufacturing industry is that human resources are forced to spend time on low-value-added work, low unit prices, and harsh work.” To solve this problem, we advocated the revitalization of the same industry through automation technology.

The company is developing a bulk picking solution that combines AI and hardware, using a machine learning visual inspection device called “TESRAY” and AI technology called “PIQ”.
By automating, you will not have to spend time on simple tasks such as visual inspection and bulk picking, and you will be able to perform high-value-added tasks and revitalize the manufacturing industry.

4. IBM blockchain will change society

Speaker: Jules Miller (IBM Blockchain Ventures Co-Founder)

Jules Miller said that the reason for launching the company is that it is a great opportunity to see the blockchain market, and there are three initiatives, accelerator, combining service, investment, not only finance but also education and food. We are advocating activities aimed at incorporating blockchain across the industry.

He pointed out the lack of change by large Japanese companies and the sense of crisis such as market decline, and said,
“In order for Japan to generate innovation, we will build an ecosystem that allows large companies to take risks and support and support startups. And we have to make our engineers more competitive. Even large companies are entering an era where they have to learn from startups. “

5. Dramatic social and industrial changes brought about by FinTech

We are here.

6. Discovering and training super engineers who will change the world

With the vision of “making global innovation more accessible,” we provide three services: web media, market research, and global consulting, and we are also investigating the trends and communities of startups and innovation environments around the world and engineers around the world. ..

Mr. Omori stated as follows from his activities so far.
“We are entering an era in which engineers are required to grasp the whole picture, develop according to the market, and fight globally as an entrepreneur.”

“By eliminating the inconsistency of information between the world and Japan, overseas It is possible to proceed with the selection of investment destinations for startups and the introduction of overseas business models, and it is possible for Japan to act as a player in the global market.

” Human resources go to startups. It is important to support and cooperate with those around the startups to create new innovations. “

7. Community-led innovation project: Kisarazu Aquacoin

Speaker: Mr. Akinori Suzuki (Kisarazu City Hall, Economic Department, Industrial Promotion Division, Chief)

Through his speech, Mr. Suzuki explained the theme of “the background of the introduction of blockchain (cryptographic assets) by local governments and how to involve the region and foster an economy” using the aqua coin introduced by the city as an example. I did.

Aquacoin is a mechanism for circulating money in the area within the area, and by limiting the area where it can be used and the deadline, it encourages the spending and consumption of money at local shops, and local shops can do it. By becoming energetic, the local economy will be revitalized, and by using Aquacoin as a trigger to connect users with local shops, civic groups, city halls, etc., the local community will also be revitalized, and it will become an electronic local currency. The goal is to enhance the economic cycle in the city area by utilizing information and communication technology (ICT) such as smartphones.

In the future, Japan will enter an era of the worker population phenomenon due to the declining birthrate and aging population and the declining population, and productivity will decline. Making cashless will lead to reduction of labor costs, visualization of fund distribution, and improvement of convenience.
